We are moving forward with construction of upgrades to the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant, originally built in 1971. Construction of these improvements began in Spring of 2023 and are expected to be substantially complete by August of 2024.
What is the Reason for this Project?
Stevenson’s treatment plant is old, and needs major upgrades and expansion to comply with federal and state regulations – and to meet our community’s current and future needs
Economic Development
The current treatment plant is over capacity, and cannot support continued economic (and residential) growth. Industrial and commercial users contribute large loads to our treatment plant, but also provide our community with jobs and other economic benefits. We are working closely with our industrial and commercial users to ensure that upgrades to the treatment plant meet their needs.
Protecting Water Quality
The City is committed to protecting water quality and complying with state and federal regulations.
Maintaining Affordability
The City is committed to keeping costs as low as possible for sewer customers.
How Can I Help?
To reduce the amount of waste you send down the drain, incorporate these good habits into your daily practices. If you really want to dig deep into this difficult issue, you are welcome to join the The Stevenson Waste Water Clarifiers. This ad hoc committee has been set up to review and make recommendations on key decisions, and provides a direct link to the City Council. All are welcome, so please check with the Clarifiers’ website for more information on past and upcoming meetings.
