Street Tree Inventory & Management Plan

Map of inventoried trees within Stevenson Downtown Right of Way

In June 2021, an inventory was conducted of publicly owned and managed trees growing within the street Right of Way (ROW) throughout the City of Stevenson.  Selected city parks, the Stevenson community library, the Skamania County courthouse where future city development is planned and Stevenson-Carson School district properties within the city limits were included in the data collection.

Through this inventory, 562 trees were identified, including 10 tree groups in the Stevenson (ROW) and properties managed by the city.  This includes 102 street trees in the downtown business district, the city park trees, county courthouse trees and community library trees.  The attributes collected include tree location, size, age and condition class, and a Limited Visual Assessment of tree structure, health, and vigor.

39 species were identified along the Stevenson ROW.  90% of the ROW trees were in good condition while just 10% of the trees (57) were considered poor condition or dead.  Most ROW trees are smaller in size less than 15 inches diameter.

At the conclusion of this inventory, it was recommended that the City remove and replace 30 trees within it's Right of Way due to their poor condition.
