PRESS RELEASE-TREE REMOVAL ON 2ND STREET

The City supports the growth of over 500 trees, located within the street prism, as well as other greenspace
rights of way. If there is one thing we do not wish to do, it is to remove any of our mature canopy. Removal is
not the first course of action but must be done when poor health of the tree could impact the safety of
motorists and pedestrians, alike. We have been alerted to a few trees on 2nd Street in need of removal as they
have been determined as either dead or in poor condition and thought to be beyond rehabilitation.

Two of the trees to be removed are located near Gotta Hava Java on 2nd Street. (2 photos-left & middle)
Two additional trees to be removed are located at the east end of 2nd Street. (3rd photo-right)
These trees will be replaced with the tree species identified as most desirable by our survey in 2023: Royal
Burgandy Cherry and Snow Goose Cherry.
These removals will occur between May 15th and 31st. Expect the possibility of single lane closures and delays
on 2nd Street while this work is taking place.
Please feel free to contact the City with any questions, comments, or concerns. You can also opt-in to receiving
