Project Initiation: See the Possibilities
In this step, the City’s consultant team works to gather all existing information and meet with local experts to gain additional knowledge. Actions accomplished during this step involve:
- Establishing a coordination process for gathering information and collaborating with related projects.
- Reviewing all project documentation, including aerial photographs, other mapping materials, GIS data and previous plans and studies.
- Creating appropriate base mapping materials suitable for plan development and public engagement.
- Completing technical analyses of existing baseline and projected market, demographic, traffic and transportation data, and regulatory conditions.
- Concisely documenting the physical and regulatory strengths, opportunities, constraints and weaknesses.
- Using this information with input from shareholders and the community to establish the study goals and objectives. The objectives will be used as criteria for the evaluation of downtown themes concepts.
