The City of Stevenson, in cooperation with Skamania County PUD, Centurylink, Wave Broadband, and Gorge Net, will be performing a utilities undergrounding project along Railroad Avenue, Russell Avenue, and Ash Alley.  This project is tentatively scheduled to start at Railroad Avenue on June 24th, then on July 8th we will be starting on Middle Russell Avenue (between First and Second Street), which also includes Ash Alley.  Then, later in the year around mid-September, we will be undergrounding Upper Russell Avenue (from Second Street To Vancouver Avenue).  Tentatively scheduled work hours will be from 8:00-3:30, Monday thru Thursday, with a few possible variations to accommodate unexpected delays in the project.  All roads except Ash Alley will remain open during the project, with alternating one lane closures.

If you have any questions, please call City Hall at 509-427-5970.

In November 2017 the City Council  adopted rates for connection fees and for 2018 and 2019 water and sewer services. The monthly minimum for customers with water and sewer increased from $69.31 to $88.89 beginning with the Jan 2019 billing cycle; the consumption allowance remains at 400 cu ft/mo and the excess water rate remains at $.039/cu ft. The complete ordinances can be viewed online for Water Rates, Sewer Rates , and  Low income seniors that demonstrate income and age eligibility pay 50% of the base rates for water and sewer. Eligibility must be renewed annually. Customers with sewer service who have not requested an inspection are being billed a $10/mo fee for Downspout/Sump Pump Connection. This fee can be removed from the customer’s billing if the City is able to verify that the structure’s rain or groundwater collection systems are not being routed to the sewer. There is a moratorium on new Commercial connections that would adversely impact BOD & TSS levels for the sewage treatment plant;  new residential connections are allowed and not restricted by the moratorium.

City street lights are being converted to more energy efficient LED fixtures through a program called “Relight Washington” funded by the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board (TIB).  Warmer, low level CRI (Color Rendering Index) fixtures were chosen in consideration of wildlife environmental needs and night sky preservation. More information about the Relight Washington program can be found here. Email to report street light complaints.
