Snow Event Information

Here is some information regarding city operations during snow events and what you can do to help.

  • The city will begin plowing when the snow on the streets measures roughly three inches.
  • If possible, please remove any vehicles that are parked on city streets.
  • Do not pass snow plows and remain a safe distance away, especially when crews are clearing intersections.
  • Staff will do their best to clear snow away from driveways, but in most cases a snow berm will accumulate at the entrance of driveways. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to remove the snow berm. If you are unable to remove the berm, please contact City Hall at (509) 427-5970. City staff will remove the berm as time allows.
  • Stay safe, drive with caution and we will help you get to where you need to be!

More information on the order of street plowing and the city’s policy can be found here.

Burn ban is lifted

No burn bans are currently in effect. Self-issue burn permits are available at City Hall.

2019-2020 SMALL WORKS ROSTER

The City of Stevenson is updating its Small Works/Professional Services Roster and Vendor Purchasing List. State law requires the list to be updated annually. Contractors/vendors/professionals may be added to the list at any time during the year.  Those currently on the list must renew their eligibility annually. Click here for the advertisement and here for the 2019-2020  Small Works Application form.

WATER AND SEWER RATES INCREASED 1/1/2020

In December 2019 the City Council adopted rates for water and sewer services. The monthly minimum for customers with water and sewer increased from $88.89 to $112.02 beginning with the Jan 2020 billing cycle; the consumption allowance remains at 400 cu ft/mo and the excess water rate increased from $.039/cu ft to $.041/cu ft. The complete ordinances can be viewed online for Water Rates, Sewer Rates , and  Low income seniors or those on disability that demonstrate income and age eligibility pay 50% of the base rates for water and sewer. Eligibility must be renewed annually. Customers with sewer service who have not requested an inspection are being billed a $10/mo fee for Downspout/Sump Pump Connection. This fee can be removed from the customer’s billing if the City is able to verify that the structure’s rain or groundwater collection systems are not being routed to the sewer. There is a moratorium on new Commercial connections that would adversely impact BOD & TSS levels for the sewage treatment plant;  new residential connections are allowed and not restricted by the moratorium.
