Appointed by the City Council, the Stevenson Planning Commission’s first purpose is to provide and maintain a quality living environment in the city. The Planning Commission does this in an advisory capacity to the Mayor and City Council by developing land use plans, development standards, and ordinances for review by the City Council and by reviewing and recommending action on subdivisions and other development proposals. The Planning Commission also serves the City Council by hearing and deciding conditional use proposals within the City. In the course of fulfilling its duties, the Stevenson Planning Commission serves as a primary public forum where community members can expect receptive ears and a willingness to reexamine plans, procedures and rules so they address the present needs of the community in an independently critical manner.
